Welcome to our website: Proud owners and/or breeders of Hunting Buddies, CKC Champion, CKC/ AKC Master Hunters, AKC Master National Qualifiers, Hunt Test Dogs, Field Trial Qual & Derby placements, Agility Dogs & MACH titles, SAR Dogs, Tracking Dogs & Tracking Champions, AKC Obedience Champions, OTCH titles and the first 2 Golden Retrievers in Alberta to receive the title and both completed their Urban Tracking Dog Excellent tests on first attempts. Our hobby and passion is training and hunting over Retrievers
Occasionally we will breed Golden Retriever litters for hunting families, hunt test, performance homes and experienced active pet homes.
There is nothing better then spending a day outside in the field with your best friends! To keep the dream alive and support the Retriever Training community we built and co-own Swamp Dog Farm on Vancouver Island, BC.
RIO RANCH...
was originally a Charlois Cattle Ranch just west of High River in Alberta Canada and home to the World Grand Champion Charlois Bull "Knockout". It was also home to my husband Dwight and his best friend and hunting companion, a Golden Retriever named "Janiero" (Jenner's High River Queen). She was the heart and soul of the ranch and to this day Dwight's hunting buddies still talk about her hunting style, courage and desire to please. Time passed by and the cattle ranch was sold but the name Rio Ranch will always be with us.

Dwight has been hunting upland and waterfowl hunting for over 60 years. He partnered in a pheasant farm operation and has raised Golden litters in the 80's for family hunting companions.
I met my husband and hunting partner in 1992 and when we went on our first hunting trip together in 1996 - I got hooked and the search was on for a new pup and a new shotgun. Our new bundle of joy needed to be a good traveler, good hunter, people pleaser, like boats, water and be a best friend to our older Lab. We found a pup and as Goldens do, she changed our lives forever.
We have met many friends on our Golden journey, some of whom we partnered with and co-own a few very special Golden Retrievers that we feel meet the standard for temperament, drive, hunting ability and structure for breeding. Our dogs are first and foremost our family members, hunting buddies and best friends, they live in the home and enjoy training. Outside of hunting season our Goldens like to play in other venues including those that allow them to retrieve birds! We have participating in CKC & AKC Hunt Tests at all levels, Field trials at the Qual and Derby level, Agility, Rally & Tracking. We concentrate on their hunting ability, health and temperament first and foremost. We can't imagine our lives without them.
